So I’ve raved on and on about my new business venture teaching wedding dances, but I’ve not actually done a blog post about one of the most important days of our lives… Our wedding!! This was bought to my attention by a lovely Instagram follower, so I thought it only right to oblige and create a post all about our wedding day.
We got married on Saturday 4th June 2011, and it was a beautifully British country style wedding. I may not have exactly the same little details now, but I would have the same husband, and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
Let’s start with the most important thing… My dress was by a designer called Manuel Mota for Pronovias. Originally I booked in to try on designer dresses with the intention of finding a style that I loved and then getting one made… But as soon as I saw this dress, I fell in love!
We ended up getting a pretty good deal on it as it was in the sample sale – winner! The Wedding Club in Birmingham has an amazing range of dresses if anyone is local and looking to find ‘the one’!
HAIR & MAKE-UP
My wonderful sister in law, Asha, did my hair on the day. We went with a fairly casual look as I didn’t have a veil; lose waves and one fishtail plait. We also added some of the flowers from the cut-offs of my dress in my hair too!
I had been for a fair few make-up trials, and nowhere seemed to give me a look that I felt was really ‘me’ – so in the end, I bought lots of make-up from different brands (mostly Clarins and YSL), and did my make-up myself!
It had to be peonies. Our bouquets were hand tied and simple, pink for my bouquet and the buttonholes for the groomsmen, and white for the bridesmaids. They just looked STUNNING!
Our ceremony was held at our local Church, and our Wedding Breakfast and Reception held at The Limes in Earlswood. I loved the laid back feel of the venue, the fact that it wasn’t overwhelmingly massive, and that it was pretty much a blank canvas that we could do anything with.
BRIDESMAIDS AND GROOMSMEN
The bridesmaids’ dresses actually set the whole theme for our wedding! I fell in love with these sage green dresses from Coast, and centred our whole wedding around them! For the groomsmen, we went for some grey suits with neutral ties and buttonholes – these do look pretty outdated now!!
We had to make cutbacks somewhere, and it just so happened to be the cake! Luckily, back in 2011 it was the ‘in’ thing to do to have cupcakes, so we just went one step further and made them ourselves! I think they looked amazing, we displayed them on a cake stand with little cupcake toppers.
