Before having kids, Dan and I never really made a big thing out of Valentines Day. Maybe we’d buy cards (I mean that was pushing it), but we never did anything particularly special to mark the occasion.
Since becoming parents though, safe to say our take on Valentines Day is pretty different! We find ourselves so busy running around looking after Lawson, a house, juggling work and life commitments, that at times our marriage can take a back seat. Literally, ANY excuse to get a sitter and spend a bit of much needed time together now and we jump at the chance! And Valentines Day is as good an excuse as any, right?
So when Debenhams got in touch to see whether we would like to celebrate Valentines Day with them, it was an absolute no brainer! They have a specific Valentines Day page which provides gift ideas for him and for her, including gorgeous items from their beauty, fragrance, jewellery and watch ranges. They have something to suit all tastes and budgets, a go to gift guide for sure!
We picked out a few items from Urban Decay for me (I’ve had my eye on these for ages!) and Dan wanted a new fragrance so their Valentines Day page came in very handy!
What’s more, Debenhams are also offering gift experiences. WHAT. We were very kindly sent the ‘Ultimate Time Together’ gift experience voucher, in which there is SO much choice for things to do all over the country. It took an entire evening for us to decide what to do!
We finally decided on a spa day – I feel like as parents we need a little time off to relax every so often (or very often)! We went to the day spa at Chesford Grange in Warwick, and the package included one 50 minute treatment each and a three course lunch too! Bliss.
We dropped Lawson off eagerly at the grandparents for the day, and drove ourselves to Warwick for some much needed time together. There was a wide choice of treatments to choose from, and I decided on gel nails (they’ve been neglected for months! #mumlife) Dan went for the massage and facial and we both found ourselves thoroughly relaxed by the end of the hour.
We then had time completely to ourselves to enjoy the facilities, which included a swimming pool, steam room, jacuzzi and gym. However, the heated loungers were just too much of a winner for me to get up and move, and I was so happy just to get some time to relax and finish my ‘Unmumsy Mum’ book, which I started shortly after Lawson was born!
We were then treated to a lovely three course lunch, which was so filling and delicious. We felt so chilled by the end of the day, and it felt amazing to spend some quality time together sans toddler.
I would highly recommend checking out the Debenhams Valentines Day page if you are stuck for a bit of inspiration for the big day this year. Happy shopping and Happy Love Day!
